How to Stop Praying Like an Orphan

An orphan negotiates. He bargains, he performs, he keeps a ledger of his own good behaviour and presents it like a receipt. A son simply comes home.
You can hear the difference. Orphan prayer is loud on need and silent on relationship. Son prayer starts with Father and works outward from there.
This is not a licence for passivity. Sons carry more responsibility, not less. But they carry it from security instead of scarcity.
Practise it this week. Before you bring one request, spend two minutes saying nothing but who He is to you. Watch how the rest of the prayer changes.
